i love ghandi restaurant. firstly, i live in the area and having such good, authentic food close by is wonderful. second, the owners and staff at ghandi are such lovely people that it makes any visit very pleasant. moreover ghandi adds much needed variety to the overall food scene in the valley. highly recommended!

Excellent restaurant indien ! Les plats sont délicieux et pleins de saveurs. Cela me rappelle vraiment les recettes de ma grand-mère. Une cuisine authentique et très chaleureuse. Je recommande vivement.

Unfortunately, the food was very good two years ago, but following a change of owner/chef, it has lost all its Indian flavor and spices. The food has become bland. The dal had no taste, and the garlic naan tasted like pancakes... This little restaurant, which used to be a hidden gem of Les Houches, is no longer worth visiting anymore. It's very sad. Malheureusement la nourriture etait très bonne jusqu'à il y a 2 ans mais suite au changement de propriétaire / cuisinier elle a perdu toute sa saveur indienne et ses épices. La nourriture devenue fade. Le Dal n'avait aucun gout et les garlic naan évaient le gout de crepes... ce petit restaurant qui était un joyaux des Houches ne vaut plus le coup. C'est bien triste.

Nous sommes venu manger au Ghandi, personnel très accueillant, sont venus nous voir à plusieurs reprises pour veiller à ce qu’on ai une bonne expérience, nous on conseillés, plats très copieux bonne qualité prix, plusieurs choix d’entrées et de plats même au niveau des épices , large choix pour les végétariens. Le chien a même eu le droit à sa gamelle d’eau 😁 Pas trop d’attente raisonnable pour une salle pleine. On a très bien mangé et nous reviendront !

J’ai passé un très bon moment, chaleureux la cuisine était bonne et familiale le personnel est accueillant. Je vous recommande.

Abbiamo mangiato benissimo, piatti tipici curati nel dettaglio. Locale tranquillo, proprietaria discreta e gentile. Cucina vegetariana e non, per tutti!

Ambiance très sympa, endroit plein de charme, la patronne est chaleureuse et à l'écoute. La cuisine est très bonne et les plats sont (faites attention!) bien copieux 🤗 Je recommande sans hésiter!

As someone who counts Indian cuisine among their favourites, I can confidently say this is one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve ever visited. The food is outstanding, and the staff are genuinely welcoming and lovely. We had saag, butter chicken, onion bhajis, poppadoms, and naans - every dish was flawless. The flavours were deep and well-balanced, portions generous, and the chicken in the butter chicken was unbelievably tender. If you already love Indian food, this place is a must-visit. And if you don’t, this might just be the restaurant that changes your mind!

Hello, I don’t speak English very well, but I’ll try to share my experience. First, I would like to thank the restaurant owner and the chef for the very delicious food. I also want to thank the girl waitress for her lovely and kind attitude — she even told me her name, but I forgot it, haha. However, one of the male waitress behaved inappropriately at first. I asked him to come to our table to take the order, and he said, in a sharp tone, “I’m busy, wait!” When he later came to take the order, we requested Indian bread as part of our meal, and he responded, with an angry facial expression, “You are in France, if you want Indian bread, just go to India.” After that, the girl came, and when I gave her my request, she accepted it warmly with a cheerful smile. I truly appreciate her, and I’m giving 1 star just because of her. Thank you.

Io e mio marito abbiamo cenato qua una sera, tutto buono, peccato che ci siamo sentiti malissimo entrambi anche tutto il giorno seguente. Non entro nei dettagli, ma sicuramente lo sconsiglio!!!

Indian authentic tasty food, wxcellent

I have dined at Gandhi on and off during the last 10 years, and each and every time it has been not only delicious, but a delight. I will refer to our meal today, which was up to the usual high standards I have come to anticipate. My partner and I work odd hours, so a place we can go to get delicious food at 11h30 on a Friday is nothing short of a gift in a town that is notoriously difficult to get an early meal. We were, admittedly, a bit bummed that samosas weren't available, but the pakora we got instead were equally delicious. Clearly made with quality ingredients and much love. For our mains, the biryani and tikka masala were both exceptional. Flavorful, perfectly prepared, and just the right portion size to avoid over eating, something we have both experienced with indian food in the past. The cocktails we ordered were spectacular. Refreshing and delicious on a hot afternoon.

Nous sommes des locaux et nous avons passé deux fois commande par téléphone à l’avance pour simplement des cheese naans et à chaque fois de l’attente entre 20 et 30minutes. Même pas d’excuses de la part de la patronne, ni de geste commercial. Franchement très très déçu.

4,5/5 - Pas cher et super curry ! Curry excellent, (butter chicken et celui a la coco dont j'ai oublié le nom). Naan et riz parfait Seul le poulet tandoori laisse à desiré, les épices ne se sentent pas vraiment. Serveur amicale et réactif. Service rapide Mais surtout prix hyper attractif pour Chamonix, 3 a 5 euros de moins par plat par rapport à l'annapurna. Boisson ultra pas cher pour Cham Rapport qualité prix c'est imbattable. Je recommande ! (mais prenez plutôt les curry et pas trop les tandoori)

Je commandé plusieurs fois dans ce resto hindou ces dernières années et je n'ai jamais été déçu de la qualité des plats, même si les tarifs ont augmenté exponentiellement. Le niveau des épices devrait être mieux annoté sur le menu, par des étoiles par exemple.

Excellente cuisine indienne ou j’ai pu retrouver les saveurs que j’avais decouvertes la premiere fois que j’y avais goute. A recommander absolument!!!

Excellent restaurant indien avec des plats végétariens nombreux, variés et savoureux. Les plats sont parfumés et épicés comme il faut. Tous les plats que nous avons choisi étaient très copieux. Nous avons pu repartir avec ce que nous n'avons pas pu manger L'accueil est discret mais de qualité et efficace. C'est pour nous un excellent rapport qualité prix. On y revient pour la deuxième année lors de nos vacances et c'est toujours aussi bon.

My favourite restaurant in Chamonix. Ive lived in Chamonix for 8 years, many restaurants have come and go and this one has remained my favourite. It has the most delish food, lovely staff and great atmosphere.

Highly recommended! A very nice restaurant that serves delicious authentic cuisine in a least expected place. We recently visited Chamonix and had a craving to have Indian food. We found this nice restaurant and it was an exceptional experience. The biryani was outstanding, with perfectly cooked rice and a symphony of authentic spices. The cozy ambiance and attentive staff added to the charm. If you're craving authentic Indian cuisine, this is a must-visit.

Correct, bonne cuisine mais cher pour la quantité servie. 6 ou 7 petits morceaux de poulets dans la sauce korma (très bonne), pour une portion deux personnes, 1 portion de riz pour deux qui ressemble sincèrement a une portion simple, et deux naan pour 50€. Encore faim après. Peut-être un erreur dans la préparation de la commande? Première fois que ça nous arrive.

Always a great time visiting the Ghandi restaurant. This time we got takeaway and everything was delivered perfect. Love to visit the restaurant also to eat in - very family friendly and always warm service. The food is delicious and we will continue to visit again whenever we are in town - a family favorite of ours!

Excellent Indian food and tastes authentic and home-like. We were at Annapurna yesterday and were disappointed. But Gandhi turned out to be the best Indian fare in this region.

Un superbe restaurant indien,des plats savoureux , tout est fait maison, le personnel au p'tit oignons pour vous être agréable, chaleureux et souriant. Des prix abordables, des plats végétariens vous es proposé, ainsi que pour les carnivore comme Moi 🤣. Un restaurant ou il fait bon d'y venir découvrir, mangé des spécialités indienne 💜.... J'y reviendrai avec plaisir entre amis et famille. Je vous le conseille vivement.

Un bon dîner dans ce restaurant indien. Le large choix de mets rend difficile la décision et on a envie de revenir pour tout goûter 😋. Saisonnier à Chamonix, habitant aux Houches, le restaurant Gandhi est vite devenu une habitude. La qualité des plats est extraordinaire. Par exemple, le Biryani est succulent, tout comme le Malaai Kofta. Les entrées et les desserts le sont aussi, et la qualité du service l'est tout autant. Nous y avons mangé en août, nous avons été super bien reçus (on a préféré réserver pour être sûrs d’avoir une table), on s’assure régulièrement que vous avez tout ce dont vous avez besoin. Très bonne cuisine, nous avons pris un plat poulet tandoori (voir photo), excellent et on avait un peu de tout avec pour goûter à toutes les saveurs ! Portions généreuses !!!

We have visited the restaurant for several years now during ski season, so we have experience here. The food, I’ll get to, but first the timing: Having books for doors open at 7pm we were the third table to be sat. 7:20pm Order taken 7:45pm Drinks have arrived as do the popadoms 8:05pm meals arrive 8:10pm Starters arrive 8:35pm Main course arrives For us to have three tables ordering in front of us and having to wait over an hour from sitting down to the kids food arriving and over 1hr30 for a main course is unimaginable. The kitchen obviously had an in-depth problem with their service. The restaurant was not fully booked, it was possibly at 70% capacity by 8pm, with two wait staff, which to be honest we barely saw the entire visit. Food - All naan breads were small, flat, dense and flavourless. Onion bhaji’s were barely warm (Almost an hours wait on these!) Butter chicken was way t

Best curry in the Chamonix Valley and beyond. A really great find. Our group ordered lamb, chicken, prawn and veggie curries and they ALL were excellent. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant too. They do take-away also. Can’t recommend highly enough. Seriously good curry at good prices.

Good food. Plenty authentic. The staff are polite. Unfortunately it is sometimes difficult to explain the requirements. A bonus is that there is a nice papad which comes with the meal. I had the vindaloo and rice which I could see myself eating again. Very conveniently located too.

Excellent accueil, plats variés et copieux! La poussette de la petite dernière ne pose aucun soucis: les familles sont les bienvenues (dessin et feutres pour le grand frère pour l'occuper) et les enfants sont servis en premiers. Pensez à réserver ça vaut le coup!

The name meant it had an Indian taste. Though we were not able to have food but we missed Indian tea which was beautifully prepared and served. Never expected such a good tea. Though we were the only customers they made an effort to give the best of their services!!!! Keep Up...

nous etions quatre pour diner et apres avoir attendu pres d’une heure notre commande (puisque le restaurant sert dabord a emporter) avons ete plus que deçus : je n’ai jamais aussi mal mange indien et pourtant ai beaucoup voyage meme les cheese nans etaient insipides

Bon restaurant à prix très démocratiques

We had Masala Dosa, Dal with Spinach and Vada. The dal was tasteless and watery, the Vada contained raw lentils and the Dosa were basically thick spongy pancakes that had nothing to do with Dosa at all (e.g. did not contain urad dal as advertised on the menu). We eat indian food regularly and this wasn't. We ate everything anyway because we were super hungry. On the upside, the waitress was really helpful with info about allergies.

Ce restaurant indien vaut vraiment le détour. Le repas fut excellent (le Pasanda est un vrai délice) ! À recommander.

Great place to find veggie food in Chamonix that doesn't involve massive amounts of cheese. Very tasty and well-prepared dishes. Recommend the thali!

Cuisine moyenne, pas bien cuite et présentation bâclée. Ils ont corriger la cuisson après notre demande mais quand même pas terrible... Au moment de payer j'ai eu l'occasion de voir la cuisine et là ... Catastrophe !!! L'état de la cuisine dégueulasse. Un peu comme cauchemard en cuisine... J'habite les Houches et je n'irai plus là bas. J'espere aussi que je ne vais pas être malade due au manque d'hygiène evident des cuisines. Point positif, acceuil sympa et service rapide. Pour le prix, un peu cher pour ce que s'est... Et finalement, je modifie ma note et je donne une etoile au lieu de trois parce que au vu de la réponse du propriétaire et sa façon de ne pas accepter la critique, ça démontre la valeur qu'il porte a ces clients. 30 ans en France et ne sait même pas écrire notre langue. Bravo !!! Désolé mais chez vous s'est crade et dégueul

J'ai pris à emporter pour 5 adultes et les plats sont assez copieux et bien fait. Tout le monde ont bien aimé.

Fairly good curry but small chunks of meat and not enough veg in them. There have been problems with overcrowding and the card machine not working

Devoured a Ghandis after a four month curry drought. It was good, tasty and not over creamy which I fear from a Euro Curry. Very good food and friendly staff, what’s not to like.

I was in a spellbounded state after reaching Les Houses. And then in saw a restaurant named Gandhi and I had to enter here. Ambience was good, staff were pleasant and food was homely. People mostly land in les houses on their mount blanc expedition in Chamonix mostly because it has cheaper hotels as compared to Chamonix main town

READ RESPONSES TO REVIEWS - AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! Shocking. Just shocking. Went in for a takeaway, was rudely told to just come back in half an hour as they had 50 people coming in for food. The establishment was open, my custom dismissed by the owner and I was laughed out of the shop. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. ...*further to owner response below* - tested your food? Unable to as I was met with your disgusting customer service. - off season? Surely you should welcome all custom - 50 customers? Then how come you can rudely respond to reviews within minutes? Never have I came across such abhorrent, racist attitudes towards customers and reviewers, I dread to think what level of care and attention is put into the food you serve.

A cute little place with good food. Owners are lovely and they will make it spicy if you ask for it. An oasis of tasty vegetarian options in a sea of raclette.

Awful just awful! Poppadoms I would guess came from supermarket,pickles and sauces were watered down and served in what I can only describe as thimbles.onion bhajis were ok but nothing special.peshwari nan was lacking coconut,well lacking anything in the middle to be fair,the curries were absolutely tasteless and watery,I had tikka masala and my friend korma (both chicken) you would expect some colour of the sauce to run through the meat but it didn’t,I have had far better curry from a microwave at the supermarket! The rice was ok but then you would expect that in an Indian restaurant.the food took ages to come and was a huge dissapointment,I wish I had read the reviews before we decided to eat there,We are British and didn’t want to embarrass the staff (all 2 of them) in front of the other customers so we paid and left without a fuss.

Lovely family, fantastic food and always a warm welcome, what more do you need!? We eat here perhaps once every 2 weeks and are never disappointed! Thanks for always accommodating our late night, last minute requests :-) Phil and Sarah

Spiceless Indian food. Food is eatable, but has no spices as expected in Indian cuisine. Had the tandoori chicken and it was a huge disappointment compared to all the tandoori I've had. I would describe the service as confused.

Food was Good service was quick

We went to the place as there were not allot of options and it was right next to our hotel. The service was great, the waiter spoke good english. We were not sure about the wine we chose so we initially ordered a small bottle, and when it turned out to be good and we took another small one, the waiter gave us a price of one large bottle instead of two small ones. The cook is a talented indian fellow who makes a variety of dishes in a very high standard (think good indian restaurants in london). And certainly nice is the fact prices are among the lowest to be found in the area, and the atmosphere is homy, not cheap.

I love this restaurant. They have so many vegetarian and vegan choices for food, and it's very good. Be sure to mention your preferred spice level - if you get the standard level it will be "French" (bland if you are used to Indian food normally) -- if you ask for "English" it will be spicy - ish and if you ask for "Indian" you will get very spicy. They have a great lunch special on their set menu during the weekdays too - very affordable.
